The Agency for Communication Networks and Services of the Republic of Slovenia informs the public that it has organised a regular meeting of the partners of the Media and Information Literacy Portal (MiPi). The event was aimed at reviewing the activities in 2025, introducing new partners and reflecting on the further development of the platform and even more intensive cooperation in 2026.
The MiPi partner network, which the Agency launched five years ago, has been further strengthened in 2025. 4 new organisations have joined the partners. They are the Srečka Vilharja Central Library Koper, Unicef Slovenia, Risa Institute and the PiNA Cultural and Educational Association. The network now has 26 partners with common goals: to increase the visibility of quality content, to promote responsible (co-)use of digital and media services, to learn about the mechanisms of platforms and to strengthen participation and dialogue in society. The diverse composition of the partners also reflects the interdisciplinary nature of media literacy, which goes beyond just understanding news to include safe use of the internet, protection of personal data, critical judgement of content, knowledge of how algorithms work and awareness of the consequences of digital habits.
The meeting reaffirmed that media, information and digital literacy remain key competences for modern societies, especially at a time of dramatic changes in the media environment, rapid developments in digital technologies, artificial intelligence and the impact of large online platforms (VLOPs).
The many activities of MiPi, the diversity of its content and its reach and impact show that the visibility and impact of MiPi are increasing, while the role of the community behind it is also strengthening. MiPi thus remains an important bridge between the often complex European legislation and end-users who need easy-to-understand information, practical recommendations and support with their digital challenges.
Participants also looked at how to find the connecting points for strengthening media literacy at national level in the coming year.
