Radio frequency spectrum management strategy

Radio communications include electronic communications over radio waves and pertain to the communications from mobile, broadcasting, microwave, satellite and other services.

The Regulation on the plan for allocating radio frequency bands details the use of individual frequency bands. Radio frequencies are used on the basis of general approval or on the basis of awarding radio frequencies. More detailed terms and conditions for awarding and using radio frequencies in individual radio frequency bands are defined in the plan for using radio frequency bands.

The registries of all awarded frequencies are available here.

In accordance with paragraph 3 of Article 3 of the Electronic Communications Act the Agency has prepared the Strategy for managing radio frequency spectrum, which is in the procedure of obtaining approval from the Government of the Republic of Slovenia.

After receiving the consent of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, the Agency for Communication Networks and Services of the Republic of Slovenia publishes the Radio Spectrum Management Strategy for the period 2024 - 2026.

Radio Spectrum Management Strategy for the period 2024 - 2026

The main objective of the Radio Spectrum Management Strategy 2024-2026 is to ensure efficient and sustainable use of radio spectrum to support digital transformation and economic development, enable the deployment of new technologies such as 5G and 6G, promote infrastructure investment and ensure digital inclusion of the population.

Therefore, the key objectives of the strategy prepared by the Agency on the basis of the Law on Electronic Communications (ZEKom-2) are to enable digital inclusion, to stimulate investment in infrastructure and to ensure sufficient spectrum for 5G and 6G networks.

The strategy also promotes spectrum sharing between different services, provides a stable environment for technological innovation and supports the development of key verticals such as health, energy and public security.
