The Agency for Communication Networks and Services of the Republic of Slovenia publishes a report on its work in the field of regulation and supervision of electronic media for the first half of 2023. Based on the new competences in the field of video sharing platforms granted by the amended Law on Audiovisual Media Services (ZAvMS), the Agency has analysed in detail the services that could be classified as IV video sharing platforms under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Slovenia in the first half of 2023, and has found that Slovenia does not yet have such a service.
During this period, it also conducted an inspection procedure for incitement to hatred on grounds of gender on one of the television channels, and the final inspection procedures were completed and the conditions for the status of programmes of special interest were fulfilled.
The Agency also continued its activities in the field of media and information literacy through the MiPi web portal (www.mipi.si), where 38 new articles were published, and the "Read MiPi and you will know more!" promotional campaign, which included the production of a poster and a brochure and their distribution in schools, libraries and other public institutions.
It launched a call for tenders for the award of three national television broadcasting rights in digital broadcasting, and in the radio sector it started activities to launch a new call for tenders for the R2 East and R2 West areas, this time for two digital rights in each area, and to prepare the conditions and criteria for a new call for tenders for analogue broadcasting, which will offer ten radio frequencies.
