The Agency publishes the Rail Market and Activities Report 2021.

Summary of main findings:

• In 2021, the volume of rail freight transport on the network of the Republic of Slovenia increased by almost 6% compared to 2020, and the volume of goods transported also increased by almost 4%;
• SŽ - Tovorni promet continues to have the largest market share of 78% on the freight transport market in 2021, but this share is decreasing year on year compared to its competitors;
• a comparison of the passenger transport market of the Republic of Slovenia with other European countries in 2020 shows that Slovenia was above the European average in that year;
• in 2021, the situation in passenger transport improved again, as the trend in passenger transport started to increase again compared to the previous year, when a significant drop in traffic was recorded due to the measures related to the COVID-19 epidemic;
• Ten carriers were certified to provide rail transport services in Slovenia in 2021.
