BEREC strategy for 2026–2030 and work plan for next year approved ahead of BEREC Chairmanship

The Agency for Communication Networks and Services of the Republic of Slovenia informs the public that the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) has endorsed a new five-year strategy based on the key pillars of market and technology development, policy and legislative change, and institutional and international cooperation. In the coming years, BEREC's work will be built on strategic priorities that further support a regulatory approach that promotes connectivity, competition, open digital ecosystems and end-user empowerment, while guiding the development of sustainable, secure and resilient digital networks.

In order to respond to future developments, BEREC may revise the strategy before 2030 if there are significant regulatory changes, in particular in relation to its mandate.

The adoption of the BEREC Strategy 2026-2030 coincides with the start of the Agency's chairmanship of this association of European regulators for electronic communications. At this point in time, Robert Mourik (COMREG) is concluding his mandate and handing over the chairmanship for 2026 to the Agency's Director, Mr. Mark Mišmas.

The Board of Regulators also adopted BEREC's Work Programme for 2026, which translates the strategic objectives into concrete actions and results for the coming year. The preparation of the programme, which identifies tasks related to promoting connectivity, developing high-capacity networks, strengthening digital markets and empowering end-users in electronic communications, has been led and coordinated by the Agency and the other BEREC members. The programme consists of the mandatory tasks as set out in the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC) and other projects, among which the preparation of expert responses to the Digital Networks Act (DNA) proposal, expected to be published by the European Commission in early 2026, stands out next year. In the coming year, BEREC will also increase its focus on the consistent and harmonised application of rules to further develop the internal market, on the exchange of best practices between national regulators, on improving and introducing new BEREC working methods and on strengthening cooperation with interested publics.
