The Agency hereby informs the interested public that it is preparing a public tender for the award of rights to broadcast radio programmes using digital radio technology throughout the Republic of Slovenia and in the Ljubljana area. The award of these rights will enable the selected bidders to broadcast their radio programmes and thus achieve coverage using DAB+ technology via digital radio networks, which cover the entire territory of the Republic of Slovenia or the Ljubljana area.
The Agency urges all interested parties who intend to apply under the call for applications but do not yet hold licences to carry out radio broadcasting activities for their programmes to obtain such licences as soon as possible or to submit applications to the Agency for this purpose. In accordance with the eighth paragraph of Article 79 of the Media Act, the acquisition of a licence to carry out radio broadcasting activities is, for broadcasters based in the Republic of Slovenia, a prerequisite for obtaining the right to broadcast radio programmes in the designated area using digital technology.
The Agency expressly draws attention to the provision of the third paragraph of Article 79 of the Media Act, according to which a registered radio broadcasting activity is a condition for obtaining a licence. At the same time , the Agency advises all programme providers who are already broadcasting via radio frequencies for analogue audio broadcasting or who hold a digital licence for a smaller geographical area (e.g. the East R2 area, the West R2 area, the Ljubljana area) of the entire territory of the Republic of Slovenia to express, prior to the publication of the call for tenders, any interest they may have in obtaining the right to broadcast using digital broadcasting technology across the entire territory of the Republic of Slovenia.
