Agencija obeležuje 24. obletnico delovanja

The Agency for Communication Networks and Services of the Republic of Slovenia celebrates its 24th anniversary. As the national regulator of the electronic communications market, the radio spectrum market, the postal services market and the rail transport services market, it also carries out tasks in the field of radio and television activities, dealing with the dissemination of terrorist content online and acting as coordinator of digital services.

To mark the occasion, the Agency is publishing a presentation video covering all its areas of activity and illustrating its wide range of tasks. By taking on new competences and by stepping up its international engagement, the Agency is positioning itself alongside the major European regulators in an increasingly digital environment. Next year, the Agency will chair the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC), and will also have a completely new and very important field of artificial intelligence. The draft legislation provides for the Agency to be designated as the national competent authority for the implementation of the Artificial Intelligence Act. The Agency will thus play a key role in ensuring that AI systems comply with the EU acquis and in promoting the safe and innovative development of AI at national level.

By working in all segments under the competence of the regulator, the Agency makes an important contribution to achieving results for the benefit of the development of the Republic of Slovenia and for the well-being of the population, with the aim of promoting an inclusive digital society.

The Agency celebrates the anniversary of its establishment on 21 July, as it was on this date in 2001 that the decision of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on the establishment of the first independent agency, which was the forerunner of today's AKOS, came into force.
