BEREC Miniboard meeting

The Agency for Communication Networks and Services of the Republic of Slovenia informs the public that it organised and hosted a meeting of the BEREC Miniboard (Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC). In 2026, the Agency will take over the chairmanship of BEREC, which is the European Commission's major advisory body on electronic communications markets.

In preparation for taking over the chairmanship of BEREC next year, the Agency is hosting a Miniboard, which will be composed of  Marko Mišmaš, as BEREC Chair, Alejandra de Iturriaga Gandini from the Spanish regulator CNMC (Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia), as incoming Chair, and the outgoing BEREC Chair Robert Mourik (ComReg), who will head BEREC in 2025.

The meeting discussed BEREC's Work Plan for 2026, which the Agency has also prepared in coordination with regulators from the Member States of the Body, and which sets out tasks related to promoting connectivity, developing high-capacity networks, strengthening digital markets and protecting users' rights. The plan is being finalised and will be endorsed in early December.

One of the main challenges in 2026 will be to take note of and prepare expert responses to the Digital Networks Act (DNA) proposal. The proposal, which is expected to be published by the European Commission in January 2026, has the potential to have a significant impact on the future regulatory framework for electronic communications, investment incentives in networks and the conditions for the development of a competitive and innovative digital market in the EU.

The Agency will take over the chairmanship of BEREC as of 1 January 2026, assuming a responsible role in coordinating the implementation of its tasks and representing the Authority in its relations with stakeholders at the highest international level and partners at a time of major challenges in the electronic communications and digital markets.
